With a tropical climate, Cairns typically has 2 seasons, the wet season and the dry season or Cairns Summer and Cairns Winter! The Wet Season (Cairns Summer) starts in November and lasts until the end of Apil. The Temperature during this time averages approx 32 degrees with what feels like 100% humidity. It is extremely hot and sticky with most days being overcast with the chance of showers. There is also the chance of a cyclone during this time. However, you do get the occasional beautiful sunny days, so if you're willing to risk booking a Cairns holiday during the off peak time then you could get lucky! Cairns Summer also sees fewer crowds and more afforbable accommodation. The best time to visit Cairns (and the most popular time) is from May to October. The dry season sees mostly sunshine, with an average temperature of 27 degrees. There is nothing better than experiencing a 'Cairns Winter' if you ask me, it's purely heaven on earth!
