TRAVEL WITH KIDS
The question on everyone’s lips! How were we able to travel fulltime with our kids? We are here to share with you how to travel on a budget with kids and how it’s possible to full time travel with a family. No we are not rich and no we did not sell our home to be able to afford to travel!
We get asked this question all the time, or people see our Instagram posts and make narky comments like “Wow, it must be nice to be rich”. It drives us crazy… We are certainly not rich! So we are here to put a few things into perspective and set things straight!
BUDGET & SAVE – First of all and probably the most obvious is SAVE! Save, save, save! If you are thinking about doing a family gap year, travelling long term, or even just planning to book a holiday then we all need that savings account that we can dip into. Here’s the thing, if you stop or at least cut down on the unnessary spending then there is the first step. Think about it, if you average $100 per week on eating out then that is $400 per month that could go towards, a flight, a nights accommodation or even a rental car while you’re away. Now imagine that over a year… and the same goes for all those impulse buys on clothing, shoes, handbags etc… It all adds up, and if travel is your priority, then make it!

OUR SUCCESS STORY – In 2015 i started on online baby store called 3 Little Crowns i never dreamed it would be possible to become what it is today, it started out as a side hustle and something i wanted to do for myself after i had my 3rd son and was a stay at home mum! I got bored and wanted to dive in to the world of having an online business! I knew absolutely nothing and just taught myself along the way… after so much dedication came great success (Stay tuned for a course we will be releasing towards the end of the year, on how to start and run a successful online business) With an online business comes loads of flexibilty, we worked hard at this over the years and then it enabled us to work remotely in 2024 while traveling the world. More will come on this with our course!
ONLINE SCHOOLING – We enrolled our boys into Distance Education. Because they are older, we still thought it was important for them to keep up to date with everything that was being taught in main stream school so that when we returned, they were not behind in any way. AIRBNB SET UP – Next up, we set our house up for Airbnb. There is no use having an empty home for a year when you can make some serious money off it from Airbnb We found a local agent we were comfortable with and they ran the show for us while we were away! They will list your property on Airbnb and turn over the property between guests. We chose this over leasing our house out fulltime to tennants because we wanted the flexibilty to be able to come home whenever we wanted and also because we knew by having it on Airbnb it would be well loooked after, cleaned and maintained etc.. so this gave us great peace of mind! Plus if you get some good bookings coming through you can potentially make more money than having it leased to fulltime tennants.

SELL – Then when we were almost ready to leave we put one of our cars up for sale! No point having 2 perfectly good cars at home sitting in a driveway or paying for storage fees when you can sell one! We didn’t want to sell both because we wanted to come home to at least one car for the security. We also sold everything else that no longer served us. You’d be surprised at how many ‘things’ this can be. From things around the house to things in the garage! This gave us a nice boost in the savings account!
eSIMS – Got our eSIM and we were good to go! Have you ever received a huge roaming bill after a trip abroad? This saved us so much time, effort and money when we arrived into a new country. We got off the plane and immediately had Internet!
